Make Your Commercial Relocation a Cinch with Our Insider Tips – Part Three

Be a commercial moving expert and don't forget to read Part Two of Make Your Commercial Relocation a Cinch with Our Insider Tips from us.

Your IT Department and Computers
Because computers and technology are changing so quickly, moving some devices can become a little more difficult and involved. Check out what you have. Certain devices may require special attention and it's a good idea to have a professional come and look at your technology before you unhook or hook anything back up.

If you're renting your equipment, then make sure you let your supplier know of your move. If you fail to do this, it could result in a cancellation of your rental agreement. Here's a quick guide to some things that should be done before you leave:

  • Disconnect and dismantle computers with the help of someone who has some technological know-how.
  • Empty all liquids from photocopiers and remove extension chords that might be sticking out and creating difficulties.
  • Empty all items from vending machines. Take a little time to reward yourself for the hard work.

Some Last Minute Reminders
In such a big move it's easy to sometimes overlook the smaller details of your relocation. Don't forget to have a few sets of spare keys available in a place that's easy to get to. Make sure you get your technology connection taken care of as soon as possible. You want your phones, Internet and fax working right away. Check out simple things like the bathrooms and electricity to make sure they are in working order. Lastly, go over your outstanding obligations at your previous office space and make sure they are all taken care of or in the process of being resolved. Tying up any loose ends is one of the last things you'll have to worry about.

Before you open for business you should also make the appropriate changes in your company stationery and business cards as well. Revise them and include your new address and phone number for your employees and customers. You're officially moved in!
