Effective Communication
Going forward with your movers, you should feel like you’re being treated with care and spoken to in an honest and straightforward way. The entire assessment of your move and billing process should be completely transparent. Do you feel like there are some tricks up the sleeves of your movers or something is being concealed from you? Ask them about it! Every bill you receive should be in writing and you should understand why you’re being charged the rate you are. Are you being charged for extra services you didn’t know about prior to the service? You should have been furnished with a price list of any additional services you could potentially be charged before you went forward with your move. There should be no surprises when it comes to the way you are billed!
Estimates Are Binding
Have you already signed documentation that has drawn up an estimate for your move? Moving companies are not permitted to charge you more than 10 percent in excess of the fee for your move! It’s an estimate and not meant to be exact but if you find that you’re being told that your move will cost more than 10 percent of the initial estimate, remember that your paperwork is binding and do not go forward with the move. Once both parties have agreed on the estimate, it should not change under any circumstances.
How Are Disputes Handled?
It should be made clear before you decide to go with any particular mover how their complaints are dealt with. It’s always a sign that a customer service department is doing their job effectively if you’re able to see how these things are handled before a dispute even arises. This way, you know that your movers are organized and you know not to expect any surprises down the road if you have a problem. You should be given the company’s full and official name, mailing address and contact information as soon as you decide to utilize the services of your moving company. Customer service professionals will often do this to put their client’s mind at ease and reassure them that the movers are reputable and clients are able to contact them anytime.
